Envoy Still Provisioning

Enphase Microinverter

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Enphase Envoy still provisioning means the Envoy is scanning for microinverters on the powerline but has not finished discovering all of them. This is normal for up to 72 hours after a new installation. If provisioning does not complete after 72 hours, a powerline issue or phase mismatch is preventing full discovery.

Affected Models

  • Enphase IQ Gateway
  • Enphase IQ Envoy
  • Enphase Envoy-S Metered
  • Enphase Envoy-S Standard

Common Causes

  • New installation — Envoy needs up to 72 hours to discover all microinverters
  • Microinverters on a different electrical phase than the Envoy with no phase coupler
  • Powerline interference from filtering devices blocking the discovery signal
  • Microinverter serial numbers not entered in the Enlighten system by the installer
  • Microinverters that were replaced but old serial numbers remain in the system

How to Fix It

  1. Wait 72 hours on new installations.

After a new system is activated, Enphase allows up to 72 hours for all microinverters to be discovered and provisioned. Check Enlighten at 24-hour intervals — the count of discovered devices should be increasing.

  2. Check that the Envoy is plugged directly into a wall outlet.

Plug the Envoy into a wall outlet — not a power strip or UPS. Filtering in these devices attenuates the powerline signal, preventing the Envoy from reaching distant microinverters.

  3. Log into the local Envoy page to check discovered device count.

Open a browser on your home network and go to http://enlighten.local or the Envoy's IP address. The local status page shows how many microinverters have been discovered and their current communication status.

  4. Contact your installer to verify serial numbers in Enlighten.

The Envoy can only provision microinverters whose serial numbers have been entered in the Enlighten system by the installer. If any serials are missing or entered incorrectly, those microinverters will not appear even after discovery.

When to Call a Professional

If provisioning is incomplete after 72 hours on a new installation, contact your Enphase installer. They must verify serial numbers are entered in Enlighten and that a phase coupler is installed if required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the system while provisioning is in progress?

Yes. Microinverters that have been discovered are already producing and sending power to the grid. Provisioning only affects how many appear in Enlighten — partial provisioning does not stop production.

What does it mean if provisioning is stuck at the same number for days?

If the discovered count is not increasing after the first day, the Envoy cannot reach the remaining microinverters. The most common reason is a phase mismatch — those panels are on the opposite electrical phase and need a phase coupler.
