Solar.web Not Connecting

Fronius Solar Inverter

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

A Fronius inverter offline in Solar.web means the communication link between the inverter and the internet has been lost — but the inverter is likely still producing power. Restart your home router and the inverter to restore the connection in most cases.

Affected Models

  • Fronius Primo
  • Fronius Symo
  • Fronius GEN24 Plus
  • Fronius Datamanager 2.0
  • Fronius SnapINverter Series

Common Causes

  • Home Wi-Fi router restarted or replaced — inverter lost network connection
  • Wi-Fi password changed after router upgrade
  • Fronius Datamanager 2.0 card needs a firmware update
  • Solar.web server maintenance or outage
  • Inverter IP address conflict with another device on the network

How to Fix It

  1. Restart the router and the inverter.

Turn off your home router for 30 seconds and turn it back on. Then switch the inverter off at the AC isolator, wait 30 seconds, and restore power. Allow 5 minutes for the Datamanager to reconnect.

  2. Check the Datamanager status LED.

The Fronius Datamanager card has a status LED on the front of the inverter. Green = connected to Solar.web. Amber = connected to local network only. Red = no network connection. A red LED means the Wi-Fi credentials need to be re-entered.

  3. Reconnect Wi-Fi via the Datamanager web interface.

Connect your phone to the Fronius inverter's temporary Wi-Fi hotspot (SSID starts with Fronius_). Open a browser and go to 192.168.250.181 to access the Datamanager settings page. Go to Communication → WLAN → enter your home Wi-Fi network and password.

  4. Update the Datamanager firmware.

In the Datamanager web interface, go to Settings → Update to check for firmware updates. An outdated Datamanager firmware is a common cause of persistent Solar.web connection failures.

  5. Check Solar.web service status.

Visit solarweb.com and check whether the site loads normally. Fronius occasionally has server maintenance windows. If other Solar.web users report the same issue at the same time, wait for Fronius to restore the service.

When to Call a Professional

If the Datamanager card itself fails (no status LED or cannot be reached on the local network), a solar installer can replace the card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fronius Solar.web offline for 2 weeks — has the inverter stopped producing?

Not necessarily. The Solar.web connection and production are independent. Check the inverter display directly — if it shows power output, the panels are generating normally. Only the monitoring data upload is broken.

I changed my Wi-Fi router and now Fronius is offline — how to reconnect?

Connect to the Fronius Wi-Fi hotspot (SSID: Fronius_XXXXXXXX), open a browser and go to 192.168.250.181, navigate to Communication → WLAN, and enter your new router's Wi-Fi name and password. The inverter will reconnect to Solar.web within a few minutes.
