SetApp Not Connecting
SolarEdge Solar Inverter
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
SolarEdge SetApp not connecting to the inverter is usually a Bluetooth pairing issue — you must be within 1–2 meters of the inverter, Bluetooth must be enabled on the phone, and the inverter must be powered and in setup mode. The SetApp connection is Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), not Wi-Fi.
Affected Models
- SolarEdge SE2200H
- SolarEdge SE3000H
- SolarEdge SE5000H
- SolarEdge SE7000H
- SolarEdge SE10000H
- SolarEdge StorEdge
- All SetApp-enabled SolarEdge inverters
Common Causes
- Phone too far from the inverter — BLE range is 1–3 meters maximum during commissioning
- Bluetooth disabled on the phone or phone in airplane mode
- Inverter not yet powered on or still in a fault state
- SetApp app version outdated — older versions cannot connect to newer firmware
- Another installer's phone already paired to the inverter and blocking new connections
How to Fix It
-
Stand within 1 meter of the inverter.
SetApp uses Bluetooth Low Energy for the commissioning connection. BLE has a short practical range, especially through inverter enclosures. Stand directly in front of the inverter with your phone within 30–50cm for the initial pairing.
-
Enable Bluetooth and location permissions.
On Android, BLE scanning requires both Bluetooth and Location permissions to be granted to the SetApp. Go to phone Settings > Apps > SolarEdge SetApp > Permissions and ensure Bluetooth and Location are allowed. On iOS, allow Bluetooth access in Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth.
-
Update the SetApp application.
Open the App Store or Google Play and install any pending SetApp updates. SolarEdge regularly updates SetApp to support new inverter firmware versions. An outdated SetApp may fail to connect to an inverter running newer firmware.
-
Restart the inverter.
On the inverter front panel, use the on/off switch (or disconnect AC breaker) to restart the inverter. Wait for the inverter to fully start up (LCD shows status), then attempt SetApp connection again. A restart clears any BLE state that may be blocking a new connection.
-
Force-close and reopen SetApp.
Swipe the SetApp completely off the screen to force-close it. Reopen it, grant all permissions if prompted, and attempt to scan for inverters again. A SetApp session that previously timed out may not correctly re-scan for Bluetooth devices without a fresh launch.
When to Call a Professional
SetApp commissioning is performed by solar installers. If the inverter is already commissioned and monitoring is working, SetApp connection issues do not affect normal operation.
