Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Micro:bit not powering on is usually caused by a charge-only USB cable or a USB port that cannot supply enough current. Try a different USB cable (data cable, not charge-only) and a different port on your computer.
Affected Models
- BBC Micro:bit V1
- BBC Micro:bit V2
Common Causes
- USB cable is charge-only with no data lines
- USB port not supplying enough power
- No program flashed — new out-of-box boards need an initial program
- Crocodile clip or external circuit short-circuiting the power pins
- Physical damage to the board or USB connector
