Error Code CH02
LG Air Conditioner
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
LG Error Code CH02 means the indoor unit fan motor has a fault — it is either not running or running at the wrong speed. A power reset is worth trying first, but CH02 usually requires a technician to replace the fan motor or indoor PCB.
Affected Models
- LG Artcool Series
- LG Dualcool Series
- LG Standard Plus Series
- LG DUALCOOL Premium
Common Causes
- Indoor unit fan motor failed
- Fan motor capacitor failed — motor cannot start
- Indoor unit fan blade obstructed
- Indoor PCB fan motor driver circuit fault
How to Fix It
-
Perform a power reset.
Turn the AC off at the remote and at the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Restore power and switch on. If CH02 was triggered by a temporary motor stall, it may not return.
-
Listen for the indoor fan.
When the unit starts up, the indoor fan should spin and you should hear airflow within a few seconds. No airflow or a humming sound without movement confirms the fan motor is not running.
-
Check for a physical obstruction.
With the unit powered off, open the front panel and check that nothing has fallen into the fan housing. A foreign object jamming the fan wheel will cause CH02 and can also damage the motor.
-
Do not run the unit with CH02 active.
Operating the AC without a functioning indoor fan allows the evaporator coils to ice up and can cause compressor damage. Leave the unit off until the fan motor is repaired.
-
Book an LG-authorised technician.
Provide CH02 to the technician when booking. Fan motor replacement is a common LG repair and parts are generally readily available.
When to Call a Professional
Fan motor replacement inside the indoor unit requires disassembling the unit housing. This is a professional repair — contact an LG-authorised service agent.
