What Does This Error Mean?

E6 on a Samsung AC means an outdoor sensor — usually the outdoor air or coil sensor — is reading out of range.
The board sees a voltage that doesn't match any plausible temperature, so it flags the sensor as failed.
Most often the sensor has either come loose from its mount or the wire has been chewed by rodents.
It's not an urgent fault — the unit will still cool, but optimization is off.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off at the breaker.

    Pull the outdoor unit's breaker before opening anything.
    The outdoor PCB has live circuits and capacitors.
    Wait at least 5 minutes before removing covers.

  2. Open the outdoor unit's electrical panel.

    On most Samsung outdoor units, two screws hold a small panel on the right side.
    Remove the screws and the panel comes off.
    You'll see the inverter PCB and a bundle of sensor wires.
    Don't touch any of the silver capacitors — they hold charge.

  3. Find the sensor connectors.

    Sensor wires usually exit the PCB through small white connectors with 2 pins each.
    Each one goes to a different sensor (air, coil, discharge, etc.).
    Push each one firmly to make sure none are loose.
    If one was hanging or partially out, that's likely your E6.

  4. Check for rodent damage.

    Outdoor units sit unused for months and become rodent shelter.
    Look at the sensor wires inside the panel and where they exit toward the coil or fan motor.
    If you see chewed insulation, that's the fault — the wire needs splicing or replacing.
    That's tech-level work.

  5. Restore power and check.

    Close the panel, restore power, run the unit.
    If E6 clears, you found the loose connector.
    If it returns within minutes, the sensor itself is dead — order a replacement matching your model number from a Samsung parts supplier.

Will the AC cool with E6 showing?

Yes — Samsung systems usually fall back to a default mode when a non-critical sensor fails.
You'll get cooling but it won't be as efficient as normal because the unit can't optimize without that sensor's reading.
