F1

Samsung Air Conditioner

Severity: Critical

What Does This Error Mean?

Samsung AC F1 error means the indoor fan motor is not running. Check that the indoor unit has no physical obstructions blocking the fan, then power cycle the unit. If F1 persists, the fan motor or its capacitor has failed.

Affected Models

  • Samsung Wind-Free AC
  • Samsung Split System AC
  • Samsung Inverter AC
  • Samsung Cassette AC

Common Causes

  • Indoor fan motor bearing seized or failed
  • Fan blade obstructed by debris or foreign object
  • Fan motor run capacitor failed
  • Faulty PCB not sending voltage to the fan motor
  • Wiring fault between PCB and fan motor

How to Fix It

  1. Check the indoor unit for obstructions.

Switch the unit off and visually check the indoor unit's air inlet and outlet grilles. Remove the front cover and inspect for any debris, insects, or foreign objects lodged against the fan blade. Clean or remove any obstruction before restarting.

  2. Power cycle the unit at the breaker.

Switch off the circuit breaker for the AC system for 5 minutes. Restore power and switch the AC back on. If F1 was caused by a temporary motor stall, the reset will clear it.

  3. Listen for the fan when the unit starts.

When the AC powers on, the indoor fan should start within 10–15 seconds. If you hear a humming sound but no airflow, the fan motor is trying to run but cannot — the capacitor may have failed. If there is complete silence from the fan, the motor has likely seized.

When to Call a Professional

If the fan blade is unobstructed and F1 persists after a power cycle, the fan motor, capacitor, or PCB needs professional diagnosis and replacement.
