Not Turning On

Levoit Air Purifier

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

A Levoit air purifier that will not turn on is most often in Child Lock mode (which disables all buttons), has a loose power connection, or is plugged into a dead outlet. Check for the Child Lock indicator first — it appears as a lock icon on the display.

Affected Models

  • Levoit Core 300
  • Levoit Core 300S
  • Levoit Core 400S
  • Levoit Core 600S
  • Levoit EverestAir
  • Levoit Vital 200S

Common Causes

  • Child Lock activated — all button presses are ignored
  • Power outlet switched off or dead
  • Sleep mode — display and fan reduced to near-zero, appears off
  • Unit scheduled to be off via VeSync app timer
  • Power cord not fully inserted at the unit end

How to Fix It

  1. Check for the Child Lock indicator.

Many Levoit models have a Child Lock that disables all physical buttons. Look for a small lock icon on the display panel. To disable Child Lock: hold the lock button for 3-5 seconds, or hold the Light button for 3 seconds depending on model. With Child Lock active, the power button does nothing.

  2. Check the power connection.

Unplug the purifier and firmly reconnect the power cord at both the wall and the unit. Try a different wall outlet. Check whether the outlet is on a switched wall socket — the switch may be off.

  3. Check if it is in Sleep mode.

In Sleep mode, the Levoit fan runs at minimum speed and the display dims completely or turns off. From a distance it can appear to be off. Press the power button once — if the display illuminates or fan speed increases, it was in Sleep mode, not actually off.

  4. Check VeSync app for a scheduled off timer.

If the purifier was set to a schedule via the VeSync app, it may be in a scheduled off period. Open the VeSync app and check the device schedule. Disable the schedule temporarily and test whether the unit responds to the power button.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I turn off Child Lock on a Levoit air purifier?

Hold the lock icon button (or the display/light button on models without a dedicated lock button) for 3-5 seconds. The lock icon on the display will disappear when Child Lock is deactivated. The exact button varies by model — check your Levoit manual for the specific Child Lock deactivation method.

My Levoit purifier turns on but the fan does not run — what is wrong?

A Levoit that powers on (display lights up) but the fan does not spin is most likely set to the lowest fan speed in Sleep mode, or the fan motor has a fault. Increase fan speed using the button. If the fan does not respond at any speed setting and the display is working, contact Levoit support — the fan motor may need replacement under warranty.
