WiFi Connection Failed

Levoit Air Purifier

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Levoit smart air purifiers only support 2.4 GHz WiFi — they cannot connect to a 5 GHz network. If setup is failing in the VeSync app, make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4 GHz band of your router before starting pairing. Disabling VPN and keeping the phone close to the purifier during setup also helps.

Affected Models

  • Levoit Core 400S
  • Levoit Core 600S
  • Levoit Everest Air
  • All Levoit smart purifiers using the VeSync app

Common Causes

  • Phone is connected to the 5 GHz band — Levoit purifiers only support 2.4 GHz
  • VPN active on the phone is routing traffic away from the local network
  • Phone is too far from the purifier during initial pairing
  • WiFi password contains special characters that the pairing process does not handle
  • Router has WiFi isolation or AP isolation enabled, blocking device-to-device communication

How to Fix It

  1. On your phone, go to WiFi settings and connect to your router's 2.4 GHz network before opening the VeSync app.

Most modern routers broadcast both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, sometimes with the same name. If they share a name, temporarily rename the 2.4 GHz network to something different so you can connect to it specifically for setup.

  2. Turn off any VPN on your phone before pairing.

A VPN routes your phone's traffic through an external server, preventing it from communicating with the purifier on the local network. Disable it for the duration of the setup process.

  3. Hold your phone within 1 metre of the purifier during the pairing process.

The initial WiFi handshake between the app and the purifier has limited range. Once paired, the purifier connects via your router and distance from your phone no longer matters.

  4. If the WiFi password contains symbols like & or #, try temporarily setting a simpler password on your router for setup, then change it back afterwards.

Some IoT devices have difficulty with certain special characters during the pairing process. A plain alphanumeric password avoids this issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a Levoit purifier without the VeSync app?

Yes — all Levoit purifiers work fully as standalone devices without WiFi or the app. The app adds remote control, scheduling, and air quality history, but the purifier's manual controls function independently.

Does the Levoit purifier need to stay connected to WiFi to work?

No — once set up, the purifier operates normally even if WiFi is unavailable. Losing the WiFi connection only affects app control and scheduling, not the purifier's air cleaning function.
