- Samsung Q990D
- Samsung Q800D
- Samsung HW-Q series
- Samsung HW-B series
- Samsung HW-S series
- Samsung HW-A series
Common Causes
- Soundbar already connected to a previously paired device
- Soundbar not in active pairing mode
- Soundbar in a different input mode (HDMI, optical) — Bluetooth not active
- Phone Bluetooth cache showing stale pairing entry
How to Fix It
-
Put the soundbar into Bluetooth pairing mode.
Press the Source button on the soundbar or remote until BT (Bluetooth) is selected. Then press and hold the Source button for 5 seconds until BT PAIRING appears on the display. The soundbar is now discoverable. Open Bluetooth settings on your phone and select the Samsung soundbar from the list.
-
Disconnect the soundbar from any previously paired device.
Samsung soundbars remember the last connected Bluetooth device and reconnect automatically. If the soundbar auto-connected to a tablet or another phone, it will not appear as available for a new device. Turn off Bluetooth on the previously connected device, or manually disconnect from that device's Bluetooth settings.
-
Forget the soundbar on your phone and re-pair.
On your phone's Bluetooth settings, find the Samsung soundbar in the paired devices list and tap Forget. Return the soundbar to pairing mode and pair fresh. A stale pairing entry with mismatched keys is a common cause of connection failures.
-
Reset the soundbar Bluetooth memory.
Press and hold both the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons on the soundbar simultaneously for 10 seconds until INIT BT or RESET appears on the display. This clears all paired Bluetooth devices. After reset, pair your device fresh.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Samsung soundbar connect to two Bluetooth devices at the same time?
Most Samsung soundbars support Bluetooth to one device at a time only. The Q990D and some premium models support a dual connection feature — check the product specifications for your model. For standard models, the soundbar connects to one device at a time; the previous device is disconnected when a new one pairs.
My Samsung soundbar shows BT CONNECTED but no sound plays — why?
Connected but silent means the Bluetooth handshake succeeded but media audio is not being sent. Check the volume on your phone — media volume may be at zero. Also check that the app you are playing from has audio permissions. Disconnect and reconnect Bluetooth to refresh the audio profile.
