P2007

OBD-II Diagnostic Code

Severity: Moderate

What it means

P2007 means the intake manifold runner flap on Bank 2 is stuck in the closed position.
This restricts airflow at high RPM, reducing power.
The runner actuator, linkage, or flap may be stuck.

Affected Models

  • All OBD-II vehicles with variable intake manifolds (1996+)

Common Causes

  • Runner flap stuck closed due to carbon buildup
  • Actuator motor or solenoid failed
  • Linkage jammed
  • Vacuum actuator diaphragm ruptured

How to Fix It

  1. Clean the intake manifold runner flaps.

Remove the intake manifold if necessary and clean carbon from the flaps and housing.

  2. Test the runner actuator.

Apply power directly to the actuator to see if it moves.
    If not, replace it.

  3. Check and replace broken linkage.

Plastic linkage arms can crack, preventing the flap from moving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is P2007 the opposite of P2005?

Yes.
P2005 means stuck open, P2007 means stuck closed.
Both indicate the runner flap is not moving as commanded.

Will stuck-closed runners damage the engine?

No engine damage, but high-RPM power will be reduced because airflow is restricted.
The engine may feel sluggish above 4000 RPM.
