E3
Kohler Bidet
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
E3 indicates the wand mechanism has a fault — could be motor failure, position sensor failure, or physical obstruction.
Most often it's debris caught in the wand mechanism or mineral buildup.
Power off, inspect for visible debris, and try power cycling.
If E3 persists, contact Kohler customer service for repair (150-300 USD typical).
Affected Models
- Kohler Numi 2.0

Common Causes
- Debris caught in wand mechanism
- Mineral buildup binding the wand
- Wand motor failed
- Position sensor failed
- Wiring damaged inside the seat
How to Fix It
-
Power off the unit.
Unplug from the GFCI.
Wait 30 seconds.
This stops any further wand motion that could damage the motor. -
Visually inspect the wand.
Lift the seat and look at the wand outlet.
Should be clean.
Look for visible debris — toilet paper, hair, or mineral deposits.
Clear with a cotton swab gently.
Don't force the wand to move. -
Try the self-clean cycle.
After powering back on, try the self-clean function (button on the side panel or remote).
The wand cycles through its full motion and may clear minor obstructions.
If it completes successfully, E3 may clear. -
Don't disassemble.
The wand mechanism is inside the seat assembly.
Disassembly risks damaging seals and creating leaks.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I prevent wand E3 events?
Run the self-clean cycle weekly.
Don't put toilet paper or wipes in the wand area.
In hard water areas, descale every 6 months.
These habits prevent most wand-related codes.
Is the toilet still usable?
Yes — toilet flushing works normally regardless of bidet errors.
You lose the bidet wash function until E3 is fixed.
Heated seat (if equipped) and other features may still work depending on the model.
