How to Fix It

Insert a memory card.
By default, Fujifilm cameras will not fire without a card.
Insert a formatted SD card. -
Or enable Shoot Without Card in the menu.
Menu > Setup > Shoot Without Card > ON.
This lets you fire the shutter without a card (for testing/practice). -
Check autofocus lock.
Half-press the shutter.
If the AF box turns red or you hear a beep, focus locked.
If it cannot lock: switch to manual focus (MF). -
Make sure the lens is fully mounted.
Twist the lens until it clicks.
A loose lens prevents the camera from firing.
