Humminbird 'No Network Found' Error — Ethernet Setup Fix

What Does This Error Mean?

'No network found' on Humminbird means the unit can't see other Humminbird devices on the proprietary Ethernet network.
Check that the Ethernet hub is powered, all 8-pin cables are seated, and the network address scheme isn't conflicting.
If running SmartStrike or LakeMaster sharing, both units must enable network mode in settings.

How to Fix It

  1. Confirm the Ethernet hub has power.

    The Humminbird Ethernet hub is a small black box — sometimes called the AS ETH 5PXG.
    Check its power LED.
    If dark, check the inline fuse on the red wire.
    Replace fuse if blown (5-amp standard).

  2. Reseat every Ethernet cable.

    Power off all units.
    Unplug both ends of each Ethernet cable.
    Look at the connector for green corrosion or bent pins.
    Push back in until you feel the latch click.

  3. Enable network mode.

    On each Humminbird unit: Menu → Network → Network mode = ON.
    If this was off (factory default on some units), the unit ignores other devices on the network.
    Set to ON on all units that should share data.

  4. Check for unique unit ID.

    Settings → Network → Unit ID.
    Each unit on the network needs a unique ID — typically 01, 02, 03 for three units.
    Two units sharing an ID conflict and one drops off.

  5. Power-cycle in order.

    Power everything off.
    Power on the Ethernet hub first.
    Wait 30 seconds.
    Power on each Humminbird in turn.
    The network rebuilds and units appear under Network status within a minute.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a generic Ethernet switch instead of the Humminbird hub?

No — Humminbird's network protocol uses non-standard signalling and won't route correctly through a regular gigabit switch.
Use the Humminbird hub or a Cannon NMEA hub designed for it.
