Error 1
Jura Coffee Machine
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Error 1 means the coffee product outlet or the path from the brewing unit to the spout is blocked. Clean the spout, run a rinse cycle, and check that the coffee grounds container is not overfull.
Affected Models
- Jura E Series
- Jura S Series
- Jura Z Series
- Jura F Series
- Jura Impressa Series
- Jura ENA Series
Common Causes
- Coffee oil and grounds buildup blocking the product outlet
- Overfull coffee grounds container preventing the brewing unit from completing its cycle
- Coffee residue hardened inside the internal outlet tube
- Grounds container not inserted correctly
How to Fix It
-
Empty and clean the coffee grounds container.
Remove the grounds container, empty it fully, and rinse it with water. An overfull container is one of the most common causes of Error 1 — the brewing unit cannot eject grounds when it is full.
-
Clean the coffee outlet spout.
Remove the spout (if detachable on your model) and rinse thoroughly under warm water. Use a small brush to clear any coffee residue from the nozzle opening.
-
Run a rinse cycle.
Place a container under the spout and run the rinse programme from the machine menu. This flushes the internal outlet path with water and often clears a soft blockage.
-
Run a cleaning programme.
Use a Jura cleaning tablet and run the full cleaning cycle. This dissolves coffee oil buildup inside the brewing circuit that a rinse alone cannot clear.
When to Call a Professional
If cleaning the outlet and running a rinse cycle does not clear Error 1, have a Jura service agent clean the internal brew circuit — hardened residue may need professional flushing.
