Error 2

Jura Coffee Machine

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Error 2 means the internal brewing unit is stuck, not moving through its cycle correctly, or has jammed. Remove and rinse the brewing unit if your model allows it. Otherwise run a cleaning cycle.

Affected Models

  • Jura E Series
  • Jura S Series
  • Jura Z Series
  • Jura F Series
  • Jura Impressa Series
  • Jura ENA Series

Common Causes

  • Coffee grounds or oil buildup jamming the brewing unit mechanism
  • Brewing unit not seated or reinstalled correctly after cleaning
  • Mechanical failure of the brewing unit motor or gears
  • Grounds container overfull preventing grounds ejection and locking the unit

How to Fix It

  1. Empty the coffee grounds container.

An overfull grounds container can jam the brewing unit by preventing grounds from being ejected. Empty and rinse the container before anything else.

  2. Remove and rinse the brewing unit (if removable on your model).

On models with a removable brewing unit (check your manual — not all Jura machines allow this), open the service door on the side, remove the unit, and rinse it thoroughly under warm running water. Never use detergent. Allow to dry before reinserting.

  3. Run a cleaning programme.

Use a Jura cleaning tablet and run the full cleaning cycle. This can free a brewing unit that is sticking due to coffee oil residue.

  4. Contact Jura service if Error 2 persists.

If Error 2 returns after cleaning, the brewing unit motor or mechanism has failed. Jura's service network can replace the brewing unit — this is not a user-serviceable repair.

When to Call a Professional

If removing, rinsing, and reinserting the brewing unit does not clear Error 2, the brewing unit or its drive motor has failed. Contact Jura service — the brewing unit is a precision component.
