Cloud Disconnected

BlackVue Dash Cam

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

BlackVue Cloud Disconnected means the camera is not connected to the BlackVue Cloud service — live remote viewing, event notifications, and GPS tracking are unavailable until the connection is restored. Recording to the SD card continues normally. A mobile hotspot pairing issue, expired data plan, or router problem is typically the cause.

Affected Models

  • BlackVue DR900X-2CH
  • BlackVue DR750X-2CH
  • BlackVue DR970X-2CH
  • BlackVue DR590X-2CH
  • BlackVue DR770X-2CH

Common Causes

  • The camera's paired smartphone hotspot or car Wi-Fi router is not present or out of range
  • The mobile data plan for the camera's built-in SIM (on 4G models) has expired or run out of data
  • The home or office Wi-Fi network password has changed since the camera was last paired
  • A temporary BlackVue Cloud server outage is preventing connections
  • The camera's firmware needs updating to re-establish cloud compatibility

How to Fix It

  1. Verify the camera's internet source is active

BlackVue Cloud requires the camera to be connected to the internet via a paired smartphone hotspot, a car Wi-Fi router, or the camera's own SIM card. Confirm the hotspot or router is on and within Bluetooth/Wi-Fi range of the camera. For hotspot use, ensure the hotspot is active on your phone.

  2. Check mobile data balance on the camera's SIM (4G LTE models)

If your BlackVue has a built-in SIM card slot and uses mobile data directly, check the SIM's data plan balance. If the plan has expired or run out of data, top up or renew the plan to restore connectivity. The SIM can also be replaced with any compatible nano-SIM on a data plan.

  3. Re-pair the camera with the hotspot or Wi-Fi source in the app

If the Wi-Fi password or network has changed, the camera's saved credentials are outdated. In the BlackVue app, go to Settings > Wi-Fi Network and re-enter the current Wi-Fi details. The camera needs to be connected locally via its own Wi-Fi hotspot to access this setting.

  4. Check the BlackVue Cloud service status

Occasionally BlackVue Cloud experiences maintenance downtime. Visit BlackVue's website or check their social media for any service announcements. If a server outage is confirmed, wait for the service to be restored — the camera reconnects automatically when the cloud is back online.

  5. Update the camera's firmware via the BlackVue app

An outdated firmware version can cause Cloud authentication to fail. In the BlackVue app, navigate to Firmware Update. If an update is available, apply it. The camera reboots after the update and should reconnect to the cloud within 1–2 minutes if internet access is present.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Cloud Disconnected affect local recording on the SD card?

No — local recording to the SD card is completely independent of the cloud connection. The camera continues to record normally in all modes (continuous, event, parking) even when the Cloud Disconnected notification is shown. Only remote access features (live view, app notifications, GPS tracking) are affected.

Does BlackVue charge a monthly fee for cloud access?

BlackVue offers a free tier of cloud access with limited live view and storage, and paid plans with extended storage and additional features. Cloud connectivity is built into supported camera models — a separate subscription is needed for premium cloud features. Check the BlackVue website for current plan pricing.
