Bucket Full / FL

Frigidaire Dehumidifier

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Frigidaire Dehumidifier Bucket Full means the internal collection bucket has reached its maximum water level and the float switch has triggered. The dehumidifier pauses to prevent overflow. Remove and empty the bucket, reinsert it firmly, and restart the unit. Setting up continuous drainage through a hose eliminates the need to empty the bucket manually.

Affected Models

  • Frigidaire FFAD5033W1
  • Frigidaire FFAD7033W1
  • Frigidaire FAD954DWD
  • Frigidaire FGAC7044U1
  • Frigidaire FFAP7033T1

Common Causes

  • The bucket has filled with condensed water during normal dehumidification — more common in high-humidity conditions
  • The unit has been running for a long time without a bucket check
  • Continuous drainage is not configured — the unit is relying on the internal bucket only
  • The bucket float switch has stuck in the full position even after emptying

How to Fix It

  1. Remove the water collection bucket from the front of the unit

Pull the bucket straight out from the front panel. Handle it carefully — it may be heavy if completely full. Carry it to a sink or drain without spilling.

  2. Empty the bucket completely and rinse it out

Pour all the water out and rinse the bucket with clean water. This is a good opportunity to clean the bucket to prevent mould or mildew growth — wipe the inside with a diluted bleach solution (1 tablespoon of bleach per litre of water) every few weeks.

  3. Reinsert the bucket firmly until it seats fully

Slide the bucket back into its compartment all the way until it is fully seated. If the bucket is not fully inserted, the float switch may remain in the triggered position and the dehumidifier will not restart. Push firmly until you feel resistance from the back.

  4. Restart the unit — it should resume automatically

On most Frigidaire models, the dehumidifier restarts automatically once the bucket is emptied and reinserted. If it does not restart, press the power button. The Bucket Full indicator should go off once the float switch reads the empty bucket.

  5. Set up continuous drainage to avoid recurring bucket-full stops

Frigidaire dehumidifiers have a continuous drain port on the rear. Connect a standard garden hose or washing machine drain hose and route it to a floor drain, laundry tub, or outdoors. Gravity drains the condensate continuously and the bucket never fills. The hose must run downhill throughout its entire length.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often will the bucket fill in a damp basement?

In a 70% relative humidity basement, a 50-pint dehumidifier can fill a standard 1.3-gallon (5-litre) bucket in 8–16 hours of operation. During peak summer humidity, the bucket may fill in as little as 4–6 hours. Continuous drainage is strongly recommended for basements used as primary dehumidification zones.

Can I tilt the Frigidaire dehumidifier to drain the last water from the bucket area?

The bucket should drain completely when pulled straight out. Tilting the unit while it is plugged in is not recommended. If you suspect residual water after emptying the bucket, power off and unplug the unit first, then gently tilt it toward the bucket opening to drain any pooled water.
