E15
Bosch Dishwasher
Severity: CriticalWhat Does This Error Mean?
Bosch dishwasher E15 means water has entered the base tray and the flood protection float has triggered. Tilt the machine forward 45 degrees to drain the base tray, then check all hose connections for leaks.
Affected Models
- Bosch Serie 2 Dishwasher
- Bosch Serie 4 Dishwasher
- Bosch Serie 6 Dishwasher
- Bosch Serie 8 Dishwasher
- Bosch SuperSilence Dishwasher
Common Causes
- Leaking door seal allowing water into the base
- Loose or cracked inlet hose connection
- Sump pump seal failure causing a slow internal leak
- Excessive foam from too much detergent overflowing into the base
- Cracked spray arm or internal hose fitting
How to Fix It
-
Tilt the dishwasher forward to drain the base.
Switch off and unplug the dishwasher. Gently tilt the machine forward at roughly 45 degrees and hold for 1–2 minutes. This drains water from the base tray back into the machine or onto a towel placed in front. Stand the machine back up and plug in — E15 should clear if no leak is active.
-
Check the door seal.
Inspect the rubber door gasket all the way around for tears, cracks, or sections that have pulled away from the frame. A damaged door seal is the most common source of water entering the base. Replace the seal if it is visibly damaged.
-
Check all hose connections.
Pull the machine slightly forward and inspect the inlet and outlet hose connections at the back. Tighten any loose jubilee clips. Look for visible cracks or splits in the hoses.
-
Reduce detergent quantity.
Using too much detergent creates excessive foam that can overflow into the base tray and trigger E15 without a real leak. Use only the recommended detergent dose for your water hardness level.
When to Call a Professional
If E15 returns within a few wash cycles after clearing it, there is an active internal leak. A technician should inspect the door seal, sump seal, and all internal hose connections.
