AE

LG Dishwasher

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Error AE means the anti-flood sensor in the base tray has detected water. The machine shuts down automatically. Unplug it, drain the base tray, identify and fix the leak, then restart.

How to Fix It

  1. Switch off and unplug the dishwasher. Do not restart it until the leak is found and resolved.

  2. Pull the machine away from the wall and look underneath. Tilt the machine slightly to the left to drain accumulated water from the base tray.

  3. Dry the base tray with a sponge and cloths. Allow 1-2 hours to dry completely before reconnecting power.

  4. Check all hose connections (inlet and drain), the door seal, the pump, and the spray arms for signs of moisture or mineral deposits indicating a drip.

  5. Repair or replace the faulty component, then restore power and run a test cycle. If AE returns within the first cycle, the leak is ongoing and a technician should inspect the machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I reset AE by cutting the power?

Only temporarily. Cutting power while water remains in the base will reset the display, but AE will return as soon as the float lifts again. Drain and dry the base first.

Is AE a serious fault?

Yes. An active water leak inside the cabinet can reach electrical components and cause further damage or a safety hazard. Do not ignore or bypass AE.

How do I know if the anti-flood float is stuck?

If the base is completely dry but AE persists, the float may be stuck in the raised position. Gently push it down and check it moves freely. Replace it if it stays raised when dry.
