FE
LG Dishwasher
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Error FE means the water level inside the dishwasher has risen above the safe limit. The machine stops to prevent overflow. Drain the excess water, check the inlet valve, and do not restart until the cause is found.
How to Fix It
-
Cancel the programme and switch off the dishwasher at the mains. Open the door carefully in case water is near the top of the tub.
-
Scoop out excess water using a cup and sponge until the level looks normal.
-
With the power off, check if water continues to enter the tub. If it does, the inlet solenoid valve is stuck open — turn off the water supply tap immediately and call a technician.
-
Check the water level pressure sensor (connected to the tub by a small air tube). A blockage in this tube gives a false low-water reading and keeps the valve open too long.
-
Once the root cause is fixed and the tub is at normal water level, restore power and run a test cycle to confirm FE does not return.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can incorrect detergent cause FE?
Excessive foam from non-dishwasher detergent can confuse the water level sensor and trigger FE. Always use dedicated dishwasher tablets or powder.
Is FE a common fault on LG dishwashers?
FE is less common than OE or IE. When it does occur, a stuck inlet valve is the most frequent hardware cause.
Will FE clear after I remove the excess water?
Only if the underlying cause is fixed. If the inlet valve remains stuck open, the tub will overfill again as soon as the next cycle begins.
