OE

LG Dishwasher

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Error OE means water is not draining from the dishwasher. Clean the filter first, then check the drain hose and the sink waste connection. Most OE faults are cleared by removing a filter blockage.

How to Fix It

  1. Open the dishwasher, remove the bottom rack, and locate the cylindrical filter assembly at the base of the tub. Twist it anti-clockwise and lift out.

  2. Rinse the filter under running water, scrubbing with a soft brush to remove grease and food particles. Refit by pressing down and twisting clockwise until it locks.

  3. Inspect the drain hose at the back of the machine. Make sure it rises to at least 60 cm before dropping into the waste connection, with no kinks.

  4. Check the sink drain and waste trap for blockage. A blocked sink can prevent the dishwasher from draining even when the machine itself is clear.

  5. Run a rinse cycle. If OE persists after these steps, the drain pump impeller may be jammed or the motor has failed — contact LG support or a qualified technician.

Frequently Asked Questions

Water is sitting in the bottom of the tub — is OE dangerous?

It will not damage the machine immediately, but standing water causes odours and promotes mould growth. Remove the water with a sponge and fix the drainage issue promptly.

I can hear the pump running but water will not drain — why?

If the pump is running but not draining, the impeller inside the pump is likely jammed by a small object such as a glass chip or fruit stone. The pump may need to be removed and cleared.

How often should I clean the LG dishwasher filter?

LG recommends cleaning the filter once a month. If you notice water pooling or odours sooner, clean it immediately.
