F14

Miele Dishwasher

Severity: Critical

What Does This Error Mean?

Miele dishwasher F14 means the heating system has not raised the water to the target temperature. F14 almost always requires a technician — the flow heater, NTC temperature sensor, or control board has failed.

Affected Models

  • Miele G Series Dishwasher
  • Miele Active Dishwasher
  • Miele Classic Plus Dishwasher
  • Miele Excellence Dishwasher
  • Miele AutoDos Dishwasher

Common Causes

  • Failed flow heater (the main heating element in Miele dishwashers)
  • Faulty NTC temperature sensor giving incorrect temperature readings
  • Relay on the control board that powers the heater has failed
  • Heavy limescale build-up on the heater in hard water areas
  • Wiring fault between control board and heater

How to Fix It

  1. Reset the dishwasher.

Press and hold Start/Stop for 5 seconds to cancel the programme. Switch off at the wall for 1 minute. Restart a programme and check if F14 clears. An isolated sensor glitch can sometimes be cleared by a full power cycle.

  2. Run a descaling programme.

In hard water areas, limescale coats the flow heater and reduces heating efficiency. Run a Miele dishwasher descaler according to the product instructions. If F14 is caused by early-stage limescale build-up, descaling may resolve it temporarily.

  3. Check wash results for signs of low temperature.

If F14 clears on reset but dishes are greasy, have a plastic smell, or the drying is consistently poor, the heater is failing intermittently. Book a Miele technician before the heater fails completely.

When to Call a Professional

F14 almost always requires professional repair. The flow heater, NTC sensor, or control board relay needs to be tested and replaced by a qualified Miele technician.
