F70
Miele Dishwasher
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
F70 on a Miele dishwasher means the anti-flood float switch in the base has been triggered — water has leaked into the base pan. Turn off the water, do not run another cycle, and book service. F70 is a leak-protection error and indicates a real water issue.
Affected Models
- Miele G7104
- Miele G7314
- Miele G7566
- Miele G5481
- Miele G7965
Common Causes
- Internal hose or seal leaking water into the base pan
- Sump or pump seal failure
- Tank-fill solenoid leaking
- Aquastop hose triggered by an upstream leak
How to Fix It
-
Turn off the water at the tap.
Find the isolation valve under the sink and close it (clockwise). This stops further water from entering the dishwasher while you arrange repair.
-
Power off the dishwasher.
Switch off at the wall socket or breaker. The dishwasher should be fully de-energised until the leak source is identified.
-
Check the floor underneath.
Look in front of and beside the dishwasher for any visible water on the floor. Place towels under the dishwasher to catch any drips. If there is significant water, it has already overflowed the base pan.
-
Tip the dishwasher gently to drain the base.
If safe to access, carefully tip the dishwasher backwards (or to one side) over a shallow tray to drain water from the base pan. This is required before service can begin diagnosis. Use two people for this.
-
Book Miele-authorised service.
F70 needs a technician to find the leak source. Common causes: door seal, pump seal, water inlet tank seal, or a damaged hose. Repair cost varies USD 200–600 depending on cause. Miele warranty covers leaks within the warranty period.
When to Call a Professional
F70 indicates an internal leak. The base needs to be inspected and dried by a technician — running another cycle risks worsening the leak and potential floor damage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I just dry out the dishwasher and run another cycle?
Strongly discouraged. F70 means water is leaking from somewhere inside — it has not stopped just because the cycle stopped. Running another cycle adds more water to the leak and can flood the kitchen. Book service before reuse.
Is F70 covered under the Miele warranty?
F70 from a manufacturing defect or premature seal failure is covered under Miele's warranty (typically 2 years for most components). F70 caused by an external event (something dropped, plumbing damage during fitting) is generally not covered.
