4E
Samsung Dishwasher
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Error 4E means the dishwasher is not receiving enough water. Check that the water tap under the sink is fully open, the inlet hose is not kinked, and the mesh filter inside the hose connector is clean.
How to Fix It
-
Turn off the dishwasher. Locate the water supply tap under the sink and confirm it is turned fully anti-clockwise (open).
-
Pull the machine out slightly and inspect the inlet hose at the back. It should not be kinked, pinched, or bent at a sharp angle.
-
Turn off the water supply, unscrew the inlet hose from the dishwasher, and check the small mesh filter screen inside the connector. Rinse it clean under the tap.
-
Reattach the hose, turn the water back on, and run a quick cycle. Listen for the machine filling with water within the first 30 seconds.
-
If 4E still appears, the water inlet valve inside the machine may be faulty and will need replacement by a technician.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 4E the same as 4C on Samsung dishwashers?
Yes. 4E and 4C are the same error — Samsung used different codes on different models and regions. Both mean the machine is not detecting sufficient water supply.
My tap is open and the hose is fine — why is 4E still showing?
Low water pressure from the mains can also trigger 4E. Check if other taps in the house have low pressure. Alternatively, the inlet solenoid valve inside the machine may have failed.
Can 4E damage my dishwasher?
Running without water can damage the pump and heating element over time. Do not force the machine to complete cycles while 4E is active.
