OC

Samsung Dishwasher

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Error OC means the water level sensor has detected too much water in the tub. The machine stops as a safety measure. Drain the excess water, check the inlet valve, and reset.

How to Fix It

  1. Cancel the programme and switch off the dishwasher at the mains. Open the door carefully — water may be near the top of the tub.

  2. Use a sponge or towel to remove the excess water from the tub. Do not tilt the machine while it contains a large volume of water.

  3. Inspect the inlet valve: if water continues to trickle in even when the machine is off, the solenoid valve is stuck open and must be replaced.

  4. Check the water level sensor for debris that may be holding it in a false triggered state. Clean around it gently with a damp cloth.

  5. Restore power and run a short rinse cycle to test. If OC returns, call Samsung support or a service engineer to replace the inlet valve or water level sensor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between OC and 0C on Samsung dishwashers?

They are the same code — OC (letter O) and 0C (number zero) look identical on the display. Both mean overflow detected.

Can too much detergent cause OC?

Excess suds can confuse the water level sensor and trigger OC. Always use dishwasher tablets or powder (never washing-up liquid), and use the correct dose.

Is OC dangerous?

It can be. Water overflowing onto electrical components is a fire and shock hazard. Always cut power and drain the machine before investigating.
