Camera Not Recording
Holy Stone Drone
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Holy Stone camera not recording is usually a missing or full MicroSD card, or the recording not being started in the HS GO+ app. Insert a compatible MicroSD card and tap the record button in the app before flying.
Affected Models
- Holy Stone HS720E
- Holy Stone HS360E
- Holy Stone F11S
- Holy Stone HS175D
Common Causes
- No MicroSD card inserted
- MicroSD card full or incorrectly formatted
- Record button not pressed in the HS GO+ app
- SD card too slow — under Class 10
- Camera firmware not initialised — power cycle needed
How to Fix It
-
Make sure a MicroSD card is inserted in the drone.
The Holy Stone HS720E and similar models record to a MicroSD card in a slot on the drone body. Insert a card before powering on the drone for the card to be recognised.
-
Format the MicroSD card in the drone or app.
In the HS GO+ app: Camera Settings → Format SD Card. A card formatted in a Windows PC (exFAT) sometimes causes recording failures — format in the app instead.
-
Tap the record button in HS GO+ before taking off.
Recording does not start automatically. In the HS GO+ fly screen, tap the red record button (video camera icon) and confirm the recording indicator is active before flying away.
-
Use a Class 10 (U1 or higher) MicroSD card.
Slow cards cause dropped frames or recording failure. Use a 16 GB to 128 GB Class 10 MicroSD card from Samsung, SanDisk, or equivalent.
-
Power cycle the drone if the camera feed is black.
A black camera feed with no video means the camera module did not initialise. Power off completely, wait 10 seconds, and power back on. Wait for the live feed to appear in HS GO+ before flying.
