bE

Samsung Dryer

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

bE on a Samsung dryer means a button on the control panel is stuck or detected as continuously pressed. Press each button firmly to identify the stuck one. Wipe the panel clean. Persistent bE means the touchpad or control panel needs replacement.

Affected Models

  • Samsung DVE45R6100W
  • Samsung DV45R6100C
  • Samsung DV90T8240SH
  • Samsung DV45T6000W
  • Samsung DV80T7220BX

Common Causes

  • A button physically stuck due to debris or sticky residue
  • Moisture inside the touchpad ribbon connector
  • Worn membrane on a heavily used dryer (typical after 8+ years)
  • Damaged ribbon cable between the touchpad and the control board

How to Fix It

  1. Power off for 5 minutes.

Switch off at the wall socket and wait 5 minutes. A power cycle resets the control panel logic. If bE was a transient glitch, it clears after restoring power.

  2. Press each button in sequence.

Press every button on the control panel — Power, Start, Cycle, Option, Temp, etc. Listen for the beep and watch the display. A button that does not beep, or beeps continuously, is the stuck one.

  3. Clean the panel.

Wipe the panel with a barely damp cloth. Pay attention around any stuck button — sticky residue from a spilled drink or laundry detergent splash often holds buttons down. Do not spray cleaner directly.

  4. Allow to dry for 24 hours if needed.

If bE follows a humid laundry room or steam from a nearby washer, leave the dryer unplugged with the door open for 24 hours. Trapped moisture in the touchpad evaporates.

  5. Book service for touchpad replacement.

A Samsung dryer touchpad costs USD 80–150 for the part. Labour adds USD 100–150. Total cost USD 200–300 fitted. For dryers 8+ years old, replacement may be more economical.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my Samsung dryer run with bE?

No — bE typically locks out cycle start. The control panel cannot determine which button is being pressed because one is permanently active. Clear bE before starting a cycle.

Why does bE keep coming back after I clean the panel?

Recurring bE after cleaning means either the cleaning is not deep enough (residue still present), the touchpad membrane is worn, or there is a wiring issue. A 24-hour dry-out followed by careful cleaning resolves most cases. Persistent bE needs touchpad replacement.
