DC
Samsung Dryer
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Samsung dryer DC error means the door is not sensed as closed. Firmly push the door shut until you hear a click, then press Start again.
Affected Models
- Samsung Electric Dryer
- Samsung Gas Dryer
- Samsung DV Series
- Samsung Smart Dryer
Common Causes
- Door not pushed fully closed
- Laundry item caught in the door seal
- Worn or broken door latch
- Faulty door switch not detecting closure
- Damaged door hinge causing misalignment
How to Fix It
-
Push the door firmly shut.
You should hear and feel a definite click. If the door feels loose or spongy, the latch or strike is worn.
-
Check for laundry caught in the door seal.
Open the door and inspect the rubber gasket around the drum opening. A sock or small item trapped in the seal prevents the door from latching fully.
-
Inspect the door latch and strike plate.
Look at the plastic latch on the door edge and the metal strike on the dryer body. A cracked latch or bent strike will prevent the door from locking — both parts are inexpensive to replace.
-
Test the door switch.
Unplug the dryer and locate the door switch (behind the front panel near the door opening). Use a multimeter to test for continuity — the switch should close when the door is pressed and open when released. Replace if faulty.
When to Call a Professional
If the door closes firmly with a click but DC still shows, the door switch has failed internally. An appliance technician can replace it quickly and affordably.
