tS
Samsung Dryer
Severity: ModerateWhat it means
Samsung dryer tS is one of the temperature-error codes.
Samsung's exact wording for the category: 'These reflect an issue with the temperature or with the sensors that measure it, with the most common cause being a clogged lint screen or vent system trapping heat in the dryer.'
Counterintuitively, the fix isn't a sensor — it's vent and lint cleaning.
Affected Models
- Samsung DVE45 / DVE50 / DVE52 series electric dryers
- Samsung DVG45 / DVG50 / DVG52 series gas dryers
- Samsung DV9000T / DV9100T Smart Dial series
- Samsung BESPOKE AI laundry dryers
- Samsung FlexDry and WashTower units (shared dryer module)
Common Causes
- Lint screen clogged — restricts airflow and overheats the drum
- Exhaust vent clogged — heat can't escape and triggers temp readings out of range
- Vent too long or with too many bends — exceeds Samsung's airflow spec
- Thermistor wire harness loose or pinched (less common)
- Failed temperature sensor (only after lint and vent confirmed clean)
How to Fix It
-
Clean the lint screen.
Pull the lint screen out (top of the drum opening on most Samsung dryers).
Brush off all visible lint with your hand.
If you use dryer sheets, every few months rinse the screen under warm running water — residue from sheets makes the screen look clear but actually blocks airflow. -
Clean the exhaust vent.
Disconnect the flexible duct from the back of the dryer.
Vacuum out the dryer's vent port AND the duct itself.
Long ducts (over 25 feet) and ducts with multiple bends need professional cleaning every 12 months. -
Run the Vent Blockage test.
If your model supports it, run Samsung's Vent Blockage test: 'Press POWER to turn the dryer on and within 5 seconds, press and hold Adjust Time Up + Dry Level until InS or In appears. Press and hold START/PAUSE.'
The test takes about 2 minutes and reports the blockage percentage directly. -
Power reset.
After cleaning, unplug the dryer for 1 to 5 minutes and plug back in.
This clears the tS code from the control's memory. -
Schedule service if tS returns.
If the lint screen is clean, the exhaust vent is clear, and tS still appears on the next cycle, the temperature sensor itself or its wiring may have failed.
This needs a Samsung-authorised technician.
When to Call a Professional
Samsung's first guidance for any temperature code, including tS, is to clean the lint screen and exhaust vent.
Only call service if both are confirmed clean and tS still appears.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the dryer keep showing tS even though I cleaned the lint screen?
Because the lint screen is only the first half of the airflow path — the second half is the exhaust vent from the back of the dryer to the outside wall.
Even with a spotless lint screen, a clogged or kinked outdoor vent traps heat and triggers tS.
Disconnect the duct from the back of the dryer, vacuum it out fully, and check the outdoor termination flap can open freely.
