Error 25 on a Xiaomi scooter indicates a battery BMS (Battery Management System) communication fault between the battery pack and the main controller. A power cycle fixes it in many cases — turn the scooter fully off, wait 30 seconds, and restart.

Common Causes

How to Fix It

Power cycle the scooter.
Hold the power button to turn the scooter fully off. Wait 30 seconds, then press the power button once to restart. Error 25 is often a transient BMS communication fault that clears itself after a clean power cycle.

Charge the battery to at least 20%.
Error 25 can appear when the battery is critically low because the BMS enters a protection mode. Connect the charger and charge the scooter for at least 1 hour. After reaching a safe charge level, power on and check if the error has cleared.

Check the scooter in the Mi Home app.
Open the Mi Home app and connect to the scooter. Go to the diagnostics or error history section. The app may show additional error detail alongside Error 25 that points to whether the fault is battery, BMS, or controller communication.

Update the scooter firmware.
In the Mi Home app, navigate to the scooter settings and check for a firmware update. BMS communication bugs are sometimes resolved in firmware updates from Xiaomi. Install any available update with the scooter fully charged and stationary.

Allow the scooter to warm up in cold weather.
Below 0°C (32°F), the BMS communication between the battery and controller can fail temporarily due to cold-induced resistance changes. Bring the scooter indoors and allow it to warm to room temperature for 30 minutes. Attempt to power on again once the scooter has warmed up.
