E10
NordicTrack Treadmill
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
E10 means the console (the touchscreen or display) has lost contact with the motor control board underneath the deck.
It's almost always a cable issue — the data ribbon between them has come loose, been pinched, or has a corroded connector.
Pulling the front cover and reseating the cable fixes most E10 events.
If the cable is fine, one of the boards has failed.
Affected Models
- NordicTrack T 6.5 S
- NordicTrack Commercial 1750
- NordicTrack X22i
- NordicTrack EXP 7i
- NordicTrack 1750
Common Causes
- Data cable between console and motor controller loose at one end
- Cable damaged from running cables under heavy items
- Connector corroded from sweat or humidity
- Console board failed
- Motor controller board failed
How to Fix It
-
Power-cycle the treadmill.
Switch off at the wall, wait 5 minutes, switch on.
Some E10 events from a transient communication glitch clear after a power-cycle.
This is the cheapest first step — if it works, you're done. -
Check whether the console powers on at all.
If the console screen is fully dead, that's not E10 — that's a power issue.
E10 specifically appears when the console boots up but can't talk to the motor controller.
Confirm the console is at least showing the error. -
Pull the front cover.
On most NordicTrack treadmills, the front cover comes off with 4–8 screws.
That exposes the motor controller board and the cable that runs up to the console.
The cable is usually a flat ribbon or a thicker multi-pin connector. -
Reseat the cable at both ends.
Disconnect the cable from the motor controller, push it firmly back in.
Then trace it up to the console and reseat it there too.
If the connectors look corroded (green or white residue on the pins), wipe them with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud. -
Book service if E10 persists.
If the cable is reseated and connectors look clean but E10 keeps appearing, one of the boards has failed.
Console boards run $200–$400; motor controller boards are $150–$300.
An iFit technician can test which one to replace — total cost typically $350–$600 fitted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does E10 happen most after moving the treadmill?
Treadmills are heavy and the cable between console and motor controller runs through the upright frame.
Tilting or moving the unit can disturb the cable enough to loosen a connector.
That's why E10 often appears right after a move — and why reseating fixes it most of the time.
Can I replace the boards myself?
If you're comfortable with electronics work, yes.
iFit sells the boards as replacement parts.
The harder part is diagnosing which board is bad — without a known-good console or motor controller to swap in, you're guessing.
Pay for a service diagnosis even if you do the install yourself; it saves money on the wrong part.
