C0002

Peloton Exercise Bike

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

C0002 means the touchscreen failed its calibration check on startup.
Usually this is software — a stuck process during boot or a bad calibration result that can be redone.
Hold the power button on the back of the screen for 10 seconds to force a full reboot.
If C0002 returns, the touchscreen hardware itself may need replacing.

Affected Models

  • Peloton Bike
  • Peloton Bike+
  • Peloton Tread

Common Causes

  • Bad calibration result from a recent boot — easily redone
  • Software glitch during the boot sequence
  • Recent firmware update that didn't install cleanly
  • Touchscreen hardware failure (rare, after years of use)
  • Damaged touchscreen ribbon cable inside the screen housing

How to Fix It

  1. Hold the power button for 10 seconds.

The power button is on the back-right edge of the touchscreen.
Hold it past where it normally responds — for the full 10 seconds.
The screen will go fully dark, indicating a hard shutdown.

  2. Wait 30 seconds.

Give the screen a moment to fully power down.
This isn't the same as just turning it off; the hard shutdown clears any stuck calibration process.
    30 seconds is enough.

  3. Power back on.

Hold the power button for 2–3 seconds to start.
The screen should boot normally and the calibration check should pass.
If C0002 returns, the issue isn't a transient glitch.

  4. Check for firmware updates.

Once the screen boots normally, check Peloton settings for any pending firmware update.
Bad updates that didn't fully install are a common cause of C0002.
Reinstall any pending update and reboot.

  5. Contact Peloton support if it persists.

Persistent C0002 after reboot and firmware update means the touchscreen hardware needs service.
Peloton support handles this through their warranty process.
Within the first year, replacement is usually free; after that, expect to pay for the screen module.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose my workout history if I reboot the Peloton screen?

No.
Workout history is stored in your Peloton account on their servers, not just on the screen.
A reboot only cycles the local device — when you log back in, all your history, classes, and stats reload from the cloud.

Why does Peloton's screen need calibration?

Touchscreens need to know which area of the screen corresponds to each pixel coordinate.
That mapping happens at boot.
If the boot process is interrupted or returns a value that doesn't match expected ranges, the system flags C0002 instead of accepting a bad calibration.
It's a quality safeguard.
