AirPods not connecting to iPhone usually clears by toggling Bluetooth, but if not, factory reset the AirPods and re-pair.
Place both AirPods in the case, hold the case button for 15 seconds until LED flashes amber then white, hold case near unlocked iPhone, follow the on-screen pairing prompt.
If multiple Apple devices fight for the AirPods, sign out of iCloud Bluetooth on devices you don't want them paired to.

How to Fix It

Toggle Bluetooth.
iPhone Settings → Bluetooth → toggle off, wait 5 seconds, toggle on.
Sometimes that's all it takes.
If AirPods reconnect, you're done. -
Charge the case.
Plug the AirPods case into power for 5 minutes.
Dead AirPods can't connect even when shown in your iPhone's Bluetooth list.
The status light should turn green when sufficiently charged. -
Forget device on iPhone.
iPhone Settings → Bluetooth → tap (i) next to your AirPods → Forget This Device → confirm.
This removes the saved pairing.
You'll re-pair fresh in the next step. -
Factory reset the AirPods.
Place both AirPods in the case, close lid, wait 30 seconds.
Open lid.
Press and hold the small button on the back of the case for 15 seconds.
The status light flashes amber then white — that's the reset confirmation. -
Re-pair.
Hold the open case near your unlocked iPhone.
'Set Up' card appears on screen — tap Connect.
Follow prompts.
AirPods sync to iCloud and become available on all your Apple devices automatically. -

AirPods auto-switch between Apple devices on the same iCloud account.
If your AirPods get hijacked by another household member's device, sign them out of Bluetooth on devices you don't want stealing audio.
