Battery Low

Sennheiser Headphones

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Sennheiser wireless headphones say 'Battery low' as a voice prompt when the battery drops to about 15-20% remaining.
The prompt repeats every 5-10 minutes until you charge or the battery dies.
The fix is to plug in the supplied USB-C cable and let the headphones charge.
Most Sennheiser models charge fully in 90-120 minutes.

Affected Models

  • Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless
  • Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless
  • Sennheiser Accentum Plus
  • Sennheiser HD 450BT
  • Sennheiser HD 660S2

Common Causes

  • Battery depleted from extended use
  • Active Noise Cancellation enabled (drains faster)
  • Volume set high (increased current draw)
  • Forgot to charge after last session
  • Battery aging on older units

How to Fix It

  1. Plug in the USB-C cable.

Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the charging port on the right earcup.
Plug the other end into a 5V wall adapter.
The LED transitions to amber while charging.

  2. Continue listening while charging.

Most Sennheiser wireless headphones support listening while charging.
The 'Battery low' prompt stops once charging starts and the battery climbs above the low threshold.
You can keep using the headphones throughout.

  3. Disable ANC to save battery.

If you are away from a charger, disable Active Noise Cancellation.
Battery life roughly doubles without ANC.
The Sennheiser app or the dedicated ANC button toggles it off.

  4. Lower volume to extend life.

High volume increases current draw significantly.
Reducing volume by 20-30% extends remaining battery time meaningfully.
Useful for stretching to a charger or to the end of a flight.

  5. Use cabled mode if power is empty.

Most Sennheiser wireless headphones have a 3.5mm jack for wired listening.
If battery is dead and you have no charger, plug in the analogue cable.
Wired mode does not need battery.

  6. Reduce voice prompt frequency.

Some Sennheiser models in the Smart Control app let you reduce or disable voice prompts.
App → Settings → Voice Prompts → Reduced.
The headphones still chime softly for low battery but skip the spoken phrase.

  7. Replace battery on aging headphones.

If 'Battery low' arrives much sooner than the spec (e.g., after 10 hours instead of 60), the battery is aging.
Sennheiser service centres can replace batteries on Momentum 4 — typically 70-120 USD parts and labour.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does the prompt repeat?

Most Sennheiser wireless models repeat the 'Battery low' prompt every 5-10 minutes once below the threshold.
The interval shortens as battery drops further.
At under 5% you may hear it every minute or two before the headphones power off.
