3 Beeps

ReSound Hearing Aid

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Three short beeps from a ReSound hearing aid is the standard low battery warning. It means the battery has approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours of life remaining. Rechargeable models need to be placed in the charger; battery-powered models need a new zinc-air cell.

Affected Models

  • ReSound Nexia
  • ReSound ONE
  • ReSound OMNIA
  • ReSound LiNX Quattro
  • ReSound Key
  • ReSound Enzo Q

Common Causes

  • Battery level has dropped below 25% on a zinc-air battery model
  • Rechargeable battery in a ReSound ONE or Nexia aid has depleted below the low threshold
  • Hearing aid has been in use for a long time since the last charge or battery change

How to Fix It

  1. For rechargeable models — place aids in the charger

Open the ReSound Micro Charger or standard charger and seat both aids fully in the cradle. The LED on the charger should turn on to confirm contact. A 3-hour charge returns the aids to full capacity.

  2. For battery-powered models — replace the zinc-air cell

Open the battery door, remove the old battery, and insert a fresh zinc-air cell of the correct size (most ReSound aids use size 312 — brown tab). Let the new battery breathe for 60 seconds after removing the tab before inserting it.

  3. Check the battery size on the door

The battery door of most ReSound aids has a colour-coded sticker: brown = 312, orange = 13, yellow = 10, blue = 675. Use only the size shown — an incorrect size will not seat properly and will not power the aid.

  4. Note how quickly the battery depleted

Standard battery life is 5–7 days for a size-312 cell with moderate use. Streaming significantly reduces life to 3–5 days. If the battery lasted less than 2 days, the cell may be a poor-quality brand or the aid requires servicing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much time do I have after the 3-beep warning?

Typically 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how heavily you are using streaming. The beeps will repeat every 30 minutes until the battery is changed or the aid shuts down.

Will ReSound aids warn me again before they shut off?

Yes. Most ReSound models give a second warning — often a single long tone — just before shutting off. At that point you have minutes, not hours. Carry a spare battery or a portable charger if you are away from home.
