E3
Levoit Humidifier
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
E3 on a Levoit humidifier means the internal temperature sensor is reporting an error. Power cycle the unit, clean the sensor area, and ensure the humidifier is operating within its rated temperature range (5–40°C / 41–104°F).
Affected Models
- Levoit LV600HH
- Levoit OasisMist 600S
- Levoit Classic 300S
- Levoit Dual 200S
- Levoit LUH-D301S
Common Causes
- Temperature sensor component failure
- Humidifier placed in temperatures below 5°C (41°F) or above 40°C (104°F)
- Mineral deposits or moisture on the temperature sensor
- Sensor wiring fault inside the unit
How to Fix It
-
Check the room temperature.
Levoit humidifiers are rated for use between 5°C and 40°C (41°F and 104°F). If the room is outside this range — very cold near a window in winter or very hot — move the humidifier to a suitable location.
-
Power off, unplug, and empty the base.
Remove the water tank and pour out any water from the base. Allow the unit to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
-
Clean the base interior.
Gently wipe the base interior with a cloth lightly dampened in white vinegar. Mineral deposits around sensor areas can interfere with temperature readings.
-
Restart and monitor.
Refill with fresh, clean water and restart. If E3 clears and the humidifier runs normally, the issue was a temporary sensor disturbance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Levoit E2 and E3?
E2 is a humidity sensor fault — the sensor that measures room moisture is not reading correctly. E3 is a temperature sensor fault — the sensor that reads ambient or internal temperature has failed or is out of range.
E3 appeared overnight — my room is not hot or cold. Why?
E3 from a room within normal temperature range (5–40°C) usually indicates a component fault in the temperature sensor rather than an environmental issue. If the fault persists after cleaning and a power cycle, contact Levoit support.
