Timer 1 Blink
Fujitsu Split AC
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
On Fujitsu split ACs without a digital display, fault codes are shown as blink patterns on the timer and operation lamps. Timer lamp blinking once (with operation lamp on or blinking) typically indicates an indoor coil sensor fault. The unit needs sensor replacement to restore normal operation.
Affected Models
- Fujitsu ASYG09KMTA
- Fujitsu ASYG12KMTA
- Fujitsu ASTG18KMTA
- Fujitsu Inverter Split AC
- Fujitsu Lifestyle Series
Common Causes
- Failed indoor coil temperature sensor (NTC thermistor)
- Sensor connector loose at the indoor PCB
- Sensor wiring damaged
- Moisture intrusion at the sensor
- Indoor PCB input fault (rare)
How to Fix It
-
Confirm the blink pattern.
Watch the lamps for 30 seconds. Timer lamp 1 blink + operation lamp pattern is sensor 1 (indoor coil). Different blink counts indicate different sensors — refer to the Fujitsu service manual or installer for your specific model.
-
Power off at the breaker for 5 minutes.
A power-cycle clears soft sensor reads. Restore power and watch for the same blink pattern returning.
-
Open the indoor unit cover.
With breaker OFF, lift the indoor unit front panel. Locate the indoor PCB and the coil sensor cable. The sensor is a small probe clipped to the evaporator coil.
-
Inspect and reseat the sensor connector.
Disconnect at the PCB, look for corrosion or moisture, clean with contact cleaner, reconnect firmly. Apply dielectric grease to prevent moisture ingress.
-
Book service for sensor replacement.
If reseating does not clear the fault, the sensor itself has failed. Fujitsu sensors cost USD 20–40. Labour adds USD 100–150. Total typical cost USD 120–200 fitted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run my Fujitsu AC with the timer light blinking?
Most Fujitsu models continue to run in fault mode — cooling may be reduced but the unit operates. Limp-mode running is a short-term workaround; persistent operation with a sensor fault accelerates wear on the compressor and inverter.
How do I read Fujitsu blink codes?
Count the blinks of each lamp during the diagnostic phase. Some Fujitsu models have a button combination to enter a self-diagnosis mode that shows clearer blink patterns. Refer to your model's service manual or contact Fujitsu support for the specific code lookup.
