Not Cooling

Tadiran Split AC

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

A Tadiran AC that is running but not cooling is most often caused by: dirty air filters blocking airflow, the unit set to fan-only mode, the set temperature already being met, or low refrigerant. Start with the simple checks — most not-cooling problems are resolved without calling a technician.

Affected Models

  • Tadiran Inverter Split AC
  • Tadiran Breeze Series
  • Tadiran T-MAX Series
  • Tadiran Coral Series
  • Tadiran Split AC (all inverter models)

Common Causes

  • AC set to Fan mode — circulating air but not activating the compressor
  • Set temperature already reached — compressor idle, room is at target temperature
  • Air filters clogged — severely restricted airflow reduces cooling output
  • Outdoor unit airflow blocked — condenser cannot reject heat
  • Low refrigerant from a slow leak reducing cooling capacity
  • Outdoor unit too small for the room — system undersized at installation

How to Fix It

  1. Check the remote control mode.

Make sure the remote is set to Cool mode (snowflake icon), not Fan mode (fan icon). Also confirm the set temperature is lower than the current room temperature. If the room is already at or below the target, the compressor will idle and the AC will only circulate air.

  2. Clean the air filters.

Slide the filters out from behind the front panel, wash with warm water, allow to dry fully, and reinstall. A clean filter can immediately restore full cooling performance.

  3. Check the outdoor unit.

Go outside and confirm the outdoor unit is running — the fan should be spinning and you should hear the compressor. Ensure there is adequate clearance around the unit and nothing is blocking airflow.

  4. Check the indoor copper pipes for ice.

Ice forming on the copper pipes leaving the indoor unit indicates either blocked filters or low refrigerant. If ice is present, switch to fan-only mode for 1–2 hours to defrost. After defrosting, clean the filters and try cooling again.

  5. If cooling performance remains poor, call a Tadiran technician.

Low refrigerant requires a professional pressure check and, if confirmed, a leak search followed by recharging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Tadiran AC blow air but not cool the room?

If the unit blows air but no cooling happens, first check the mode on the remote — Fan mode blows air without cooling. If it is in Cool mode and still not cooling, the compressor may not be starting, or the refrigerant level may be too low to produce meaningful cooling.

How do I know if my Tadiran needs a refrigerant top-up?

Signs include: the AC runs continuously but the room never reaches the set temperature even after an hour, ice forms on the indoor pipes, and weak airflow from the vents. Only a technician with pressure gauges can confirm the refrigerant level accurately.
