P0

Tadiran Split AC

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

P0 on a Tadiran AC means the drain pump has detected a fault — either the pump motor has failed or the drainage path is blocked and water is backing up in the drain pan. The AC shuts down to prevent water from overflowing inside the room. In most cases this is caused by a blocked drain line, not a pump failure.

Affected Models

  • Tadiran Inverter Split AC
  • Tadiran Breeze Series
  • Tadiran T-MAX Series
  • Tadiran Coral Series
  • Tadiran Split AC (all inverter models)

Common Causes

  • Condensate drain pipe blocked with algae, mould, or debris
  • Drain tray full — water has backed up to the float switch level
  • Drain pump motor has failed or impeller seized
  • Float switch stuck or faulty, triggering P0 even when drain is clear
  • Drain pipe installed with an upward loop that prevents gravity drainage

How to Fix It

  1. Switch off the AC at the remote and at the circuit breaker.

Check the area below and around the indoor unit for any water dripping into the room.

  2. Locate and clear the condensate drain pipe.

Follow the drain pipe from the indoor unit to its exit point. Use a wet/dry vacuum at the exit to suck out the blockage, or blow air gently from the exit back toward the unit. Pour a small cup of water into the drain tray access point to confirm free flow after clearing.

  3. Clean the drain tray.

Wipe out the plastic drain tray inside the unit with a cloth dampened with diluted bleach. Algae buildup in the tray is the most common reason drain lines block repeatedly.

  4. Restore power and restart.

If the blockage is cleared, P0 should not return. If P0 persists after the drain is clear, the float switch or pump motor needs professional inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prevent P0 from happening again on my Tadiran AC?

Monthly drain maintenance during the cooling season is the most effective prevention. Pour one tablespoon of household bleach diluted in half a cup of water into the drain tray access point every 4–6 weeks. This kills algae before it builds into a blockage. Also ensure the drain pipe has a continuous downward slope to the exit with no upward bends.

Can P0 damage anything in my home?

If P0 is ignored and the AC continues running, the drain pan can overflow, dripping water inside the room. This can damage walls, ceilings, and flooring, and potentially reach electrical fittings. P0 is the AC warning you before this happens — take it seriously and fix the drain promptly.
