E1

Duxtop Induction Cooktop

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

E1 on a Duxtop means the cooktop cannot detect a compatible pan on the cooking surface. Induction requires magnetic cookware — use a magnet to test your pan. If the magnet sticks to the base, the pan is induction-compatible.

Affected Models

  • Duxtop 8100MC
  • Duxtop 9600LS
  • Duxtop 8300ST
  • Duxtop LCD 9900GB
  • Duxtop IBHF-011BW

Common Causes

  • Pan base is too small for the induction coil to detect
  • Pan material is not magnetic (copper, aluminium, most glass)
  • Pan base is warped and not making flat contact with the surface
  • Pan placed off-centre on the cooking zone

How to Fix It

  1. Test your cookware with a magnet.

Hold a refrigerator magnet to the base of the pan. If it sticks firmly, the pan is induction-compatible. If it does not stick or sticks weakly, the pan is not suitable for induction cooking.

  2. Centre the pan on the cooking zone.

Place the pan directly in the centre of the cooking surface. Duxtop portable induction cooktops have a single coil — the pan must be centred over it for detection.

  3. Check the pan base diameter.

The pan base should be at least 12 cm (approximately 5 inches) in diameter to cover enough of the coil for reliable detection. Very small pans or saucepans may not trigger detection.

  4. Check for a warped base.

Place the pan on a flat surface and see if it sits level. A pan with a warped base rocks on the cooktop and makes poor contact with the induction surface, causing intermittent E1.

Frequently Asked Questions

What cookware works with Duxtop induction cooktops?

Cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel with a magnetic base, and pans labelled 'induction compatible' all work. Copper, aluminium, ceramic, glass, and non-magnetic stainless steel do not work on induction.

Why does my Duxtop show E1 even with an induction-compatible pan?

If a confirmed induction-compatible pan shows E1, check that the pan base is at least 12 cm wide, the pan is centred, and the base is not warped. A very heavily scratched glass cooking surface can also occasionally affect detection.
