E2
Duxtop Induction Cooktop
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
E2 on a Duxtop means the cooktop's thermal protection has triggered — either the unit itself or the cookware temperature has exceeded the safe limit. Switch off and allow 10–15 minutes to cool before restarting.
Affected Models
- Duxtop 8100MC
- Duxtop 9600LS
- Duxtop 8300ST
- Duxtop LCD 9900GB
- Duxtop IBHF-011BW
Common Causes
- Cookware heated empty (no food or liquid in the pan)
- Prolonged use at maximum power setting
- Blocked ventilation vents underneath the cooktop
- Cooktop placed directly against a wall restricting airflow at the rear
How to Fix It
-
Switch off and allow 10–15 minutes to cool.
E2 is a thermal protection shutdown. The cooktop resets automatically after cooling — there is no reset button.
-
Never heat an empty pan.
An empty pan on an induction cooktop heats extremely fast and to very high temperatures. E2 will appear within minutes. Always have food or liquid in the pan before switching on.
-
Check the ventilation around the cooktop.
Duxtop portable induction cooktops have cooling vents on the underside and rear. Ensure the unit is on a flat, hard surface with at least 10–15 cm clear space behind it. Do not place against a wall or in a tight corner.
-
Reduce the power setting for extended cooking.
For long cooking sessions (simmering sauces, slow cooking), use medium power settings rather than maximum. Running at maximum for extended periods causes the unit to build heat inside.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does E2 damage the Duxtop cooktop?
E2 is a protection feature — the shutdown prevents damage. Occasional E2 events do not harm the unit. Chronic E2 from repeated empty-pan heating or severely restricted ventilation can stress the electronics over time.
Why does my Duxtop show E2 within minutes of starting?
Fast E2 usually means the pan was empty, the power setting was very high, or ventilation was restricted. An E2 that appears immediately with a full pan and clear ventilation suggests the thermal protection switch may be overly sensitive — contact Duxtop support.
