Sync Failed

WatchPAT (Itamar Medical) Home Sleep Apnea Test Device

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

A sync failure means the WatchPAT device was unable to upload the recorded sleep study data to the zzzPAT cloud platform or to the clinic's software. The data is safely stored on the device — it has not been lost.

Affected Models

  • WatchPAT ONE
  • WatchPAT 300
  • WatchPAT 200

Common Causes

  • No internet connection during sync attempt
  • WatchPAT companion app lost connection to the device via Bluetooth
  • Cloud service temporarily unavailable
  • Outdated WatchPAT app on smartphone
  • Device not in range of paired smartphone during sync

How to Fix It

  1. Ensure your smartphone has internet

Check that mobile data or WiFi is active and working on the phone running the WatchPAT app.

  2. Keep the WatchPAT device close to the phone

The WatchPAT syncs via Bluetooth. Keep the device within 30 cm of the smartphone during the sync process.

  3. Open the WatchPAT app and retry

Launch the official WatchPAT or Itamar Medical app on your smartphone and manually initiate the data sync.

  4. Update the app

Check the App Store or Google Play for an update to the WatchPAT companion app. Outdated app versions sometimes have sync compatibility issues.

  5. Restart both devices

Turn the WatchPAT off and back on. Close and reopen the app on the phone. Re-pair via Bluetooth if needed and retry.

When to Call a Professional

No — retry sync once internet and Bluetooth connection are confirmed. Contact the clinic if sync continues to fail.

WatchPAT Data Sync — What to Know

After your sleep study night, the WatchPAT uploads the recording through the companion smartphone app to Itamar Medical’s cloud platform, where it is processed and made available to your sleep physician.

A sync failure does not mean data is lost. The device holds the recording in its internal memory.

The Most Common Fix

Ensure Bluetooth is on, the device is nearby, and there is an active internet connection. Most sync failures are caused by one of these three being absent or intermittent.

If You Cannot Sync

Return the WatchPAT device to the prescribing clinic. They have dedicated software to read the data directly from the device without needing cloud sync.

Frequently Asked Questions

If sync fails, is my sleep data lost?

No — the raw data is stored on the WatchPAT device itself until it is successfully synced. Even if sync fails multiple times, the data is safe on the device. Return the device to the clinic if you cannot get sync to work — they can read the data directly.

How long after the study do I have to sync the data?

For WatchPAT ONE (disposable), sync as soon as possible after waking up — ideally before returning the device to the clinic. For WatchPAT 300/200, sync when convenient. Data is retained on device memory until manually cleared.
