Fault 1035
Lumenis M22 IPL Platform
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Fault 1035 on a Lumenis M22 is an SPI INT FLAG ERROR — a communication fault between two of the internal circuit boards using the SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) data bus. This is an internal hardware communication error. A power cycle may clear a transient fault; a persistent Fault 1035 requires a Lumenis service engineer.
Affected Models
- Lumenis M22
- Lumenis M22 ResurFX
- Lumenis M22 Stellar
- Lumenis M22 IPL (all configurations)
Common Causes
- Intermittent internal cable connection between circuit boards
- PCB (printed circuit board) component failure on the SPI communication circuit
- Electrostatic discharge event damaging the SPI interface
- Firmware issue causing the SPI handshake to fail at startup
- Faulty handpiece triggering SPI communication disruption
How to Fix It
-
Power the M22 off with the key switch, wait 60 seconds, and restart.
A transient SPI error caused by a brief power anomaly or firmware glitch often clears after a full restart. Wait the full 60 seconds to allow all internal components to fully discharge.
-
Disconnect all handpieces and restart without any handpiece connected.
A faulty handpiece can sometimes disrupt the SPI bus and cause Fault 1035. If the M22 starts without error when no handpiece is connected, connect each handpiece one by one to identify the faulty one.
-
Try a different handpiece if the fault appears with a specific one.
If Fault 1035 only appears when a particular handpiece is connected, that handpiece's electronics may be at fault rather than the main unit.
-
If Fault 1035 persists without any handpiece connected, call Lumenis service.
The fault is in the main unit's internal communication circuit and requires engineer-level diagnosis.
When to Call a Professional
Fault 1035 requires an authorised Lumenis service engineer if it persists. Internal PCB access in the M22 requires training and calibrated test equipment. Do not open the device — high-voltage components are present.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Fault 1035 common on older M22 units?
SPI communication faults become more common on older M22 units where internal cable connectors have been repeatedly disconnected during servicing. Cables that have been flexed many times can develop intermittent connections that cause Fault 1035. An engineer will reseat or replace the affected cables.
Can a firmware update fix Fault 1035?
In some cases, yes — Lumenis has issued firmware updates that resolve specific communication errors. A Lumenis service engineer can check whether a firmware update is available for your M22 serial number range.
