Er1
Braun Thermometer
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
Er1 means the ThermoScan's probe tip is too warm — above 40.5°C (104.9°F) — to take an accurate reading. This happens when the thermometer has been used repeatedly in quick succession or has been stored in a warm place. Rest the thermometer with the probe exposed to room air for 1 minute before retaking the measurement.

-
Take the reading without repeat measurements
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Er1 mean the thermometer is broken?
No. Er1 is a temporary condition caused by probe temperature, not a hardware fault. Once the probe cools to room temperature, the thermometer operates normally.
Why does my Braun show Er1 every first measurement of the day?
If the thermometer is stored somewhere warmer than 40°C — inside a case left in a hot car, near heating, or in a warm bathroom — the probe will be above the threshold before you even use it. Move the storage location to a cooler spot and the issue will stop.
