Er8

Braun Thermometer

Severity: Critical

What Does This Error Mean?

Er8 signals an internal hardware fault in the ThermoScan's infrared sensor or measurement circuit. Unlike Er1 through Er4, which are caused by temperature or battery conditions, Er8 cannot be resolved by resting or changing the battery. The thermometer needs to be replaced or sent for service.

  • Braun ThermoScan 6 IRT6515
  • Braun ThermoScan 7 IRT6520
  • Braun ThermoScan 7 IRT6525

  2. Fit a new lens filter and retry

  3. Clean the probe tip gently

  4. Contact Braun support for a replacement

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I repair a Braun ThermoScan showing Er8 myself?

No. The infrared sensor is a sealed, calibrated component inside the probe. Attempting to open or repair the thermometer voids the warranty and is unlikely to succeed without specialist equipment. Contact Braun support for a warranty replacement.

How long is the Braun ThermoScan warranty?

Braun ThermoScan thermometers carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty in most markets. Keep your receipt or order confirmation. Contact Braun via their website or the support number in your product manual.
