F10

Frigidaire Oven

Severity: Critical

What Does This Error Mean?

F10 means the oven temperature has exceeded a safe limit (runaway) or the temperature sensor is shorted and reading falsely high. Disconnect power immediately and replace the temperature sensor.

Affected Models

  • Frigidaire Electric Range
  • Frigidaire Gas Range
  • Frigidaire Gallery Range
  • Frigidaire Professional Range
  • Frigidaire FGEF Series

Common Causes

  • Shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD) reading falsely high
  • Actual oven overheating due to a control board fault
  • Faulty relay on the control board keeping the element on continuously
  • Damaged sensor wire causing a false short reading

How to Fix It

  1. Disconnect power immediately.

Turn off the oven circuit breaker or unplug the range. F10 can indicate the oven is actively overheating — do not continue using it until the fault is diagnosed.

  2. Test the oven temperature sensor.

Disconnect the sensor connector and test resistance with a multimeter. Frigidaire oven sensors typically read around 1,100 ohms at room temperature. A reading close to zero indicates a short — replace the sensor.

  3. Inspect the sensor wiring for damage.

Trace the sensor wire from the probe inside the oven cavity to the connector at the back of the range. Look for melted insulation, pinched wire, or burn marks that could cause a short circuit.

  4. Replace the control board if F10 persists.

If the sensor and wiring test fine but F10 returns, a relay on the control board is stuck in the ON position — causing continuous heating. This requires board replacement by a technician.

When to Call a Professional

F10 can indicate a control board relay stuck in the ON position — a situation where the oven heats without being instructed to. If replacing the sensor does not fix F10, have a technician inspect the control board.
