Err 56
EcoFlow Portable Power Station
Severity: ModerateWhat it means
EcoFlow Err 56 means the AC supply voltage has dropped below the safe charging threshold — typically below 195 V on a 230 V supply or below 95 V on a 120 V supply.
The unit pauses AC charging until the supply returns to range.
Err 56 is the low-voltage twin of Err 53 and most often points at a long extension lead, a loaded circuit, or a struggling generator.
Affected Models
- EcoFlow DELTA / DELTA 2 / DELTA Max / DELTA Pro
- EcoFlow RIVER 2 family
- Any EcoFlow being charged on a generator under load
Common Causes
- Long extension lead with thin conductors causing voltage drop under the EcoFlow's charge current
- Outlet on a circuit already loaded by other big-draw appliances (kettle, dryer)
- Generator at or beyond its rated capacity
- Brownout on the local utility supply
- Worn outlet socket where the prongs no longer make solid contact
How to Fix It
-
Switch to a different outlet.
Plug into a wall socket on a different circuit, ideally one closer to the consumer unit or breaker panel.
If Err 56 clears on the new socket, your original outlet is on a loaded or undersized circuit. -
Remove the extension cable.
If you've been charging through an extension lead, plug straight into the wall instead.
A 10 m extension on a 16 A unit can easily drop 5-8 V under EcoFlow's full charge draw, which is enough to trip Err 56.
Use the shortest possible cable, with the heaviest conductor you have. -
Drop the EcoFlow's charge rate.
In the EcoFlow app under AC Charging Speed, lower the charge wattage (typically from 1200 W down to 600 W or 300 W).
A slower charge draws less current, which causes less voltage drop in the supply wiring.
This is the single best workaround if you're stuck on a marginal circuit and just need to charge the unit. -
Check the outlet contact.
Wiggle the plug gently in the socket — if there's any play or the plug feels warm to the touch, the socket contacts are worn.
A worn socket adds resistance which drops voltage exactly where the EcoFlow is trying to draw current.
Replace the socket or switch outlets. -
If using a generator, check rated output.
Inverter generators have a continuous rating and a peak rating.
EcoFlow's full-rate charging may briefly exceed the continuous rating, which pulls voltage down hard and triggers Err 56.
Either lower the charge rate in the app, or use a generator with at least 1.5x the EcoFlow's max input wattage.
