E05

EcoFlow Portable Power Station

Severity: Moderate

What it means

EcoFlow E05 means the battery pack's temperature sensor reads outside the safe window — usually too hot, sometimes too cold — so charging and output are paused to protect the cells.
Lithium packs are fussy about temperature: charge them hot and they degrade fast; charge them below freezing and you can damage them permanently.
E05 is the unit refusing to do that.

Affected Models

  • EcoFlow DELTA / DELTA 2 / DELTA Max / DELTA Pro
  • EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max / DELTA 3
  • EcoFlow RIVER 2 / RIVER 2 Max / RIVER 2 Pro
  • Most likely in very hot or very cold environments — hot car, winter garage

Common Causes

  • Charging or discharging hard in a hot environment — sun, hot car, no ventilation
  • Internal overheating (the same airflow problem behind E01) reaching the battery
  • Charging in sub-zero cold — a garage in winter
  • A blocked fan letting heat build up around the pack
  • Faulty battery temperature sensor reading false high or low (rare)

How to Fix It

  1. Move it somewhere temperate and wait.

Out of the sun, out of the cold — room temperature is ideal.
E05 won't clear until the pack reads back inside the safe range, which can take 20-40 minutes.

  2. If it's cold, warm it indoors before charging.

Bring the unit inside and let it sit for an hour or two.
Don't try to charge a battery that's been in freezing conditions — that's exactly what E05 is preventing, and forcing it can permanently damage the cells.

  3. If it's hot, clear the vents and ease the load.

Same as for E01: unblock the side and rear grilles, give the unit space to breathe, and don't run a big load while also fast-charging on a hot day.

  4. Power-cycle once it's back to normal temperature.

Hold the main power button to shut down, wait 30 seconds, restart.
The unit should pick up where it left off.

  5. If E05 shows at normal room temperature, contact EcoFlow.

An E05 with no obvious heat or cold around the unit points at a failed battery temperature sensor.
Contact EcoFlow support rather than carrying on with it.
