Not Charging Device

Jackery Portable Power Station

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Make sure the correct output port is active — on Jackery units, USB and AC outputs must be switched on separately by pressing their dedicated buttons. If the output is on but the device does not charge, check the cable and ensure the Jackery has sufficient battery to power the device.

Affected Models

  • Jackery Explorer 300
  • Jackery Explorer 500
  • Jackery Explorer 1000
  • Jackery Explorer 1500
  • Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro
  • All Jackery Explorer models

Common Causes

  • Output port not activated — USB or AC button not pressed
  • Device power demand exceeds the port's rated output
  • Overload protection triggered — unit shut down the output port
  • USB cable is charge-only or damaged
  • Jackery battery too low to power the connected device
  • AC outlet wattage too low for the appliance (especially high-draw devices)

How to Fix It

  1. Press the output button for the port you are using.

Jackery Explorer units have separate buttons for USB output and AC output. Both default to off when the unit turns on. Press the USB button or the AC button (labelled AC or Output) to activate the relevant port.

  2. Check the wattage of the connected device.

The AC outlet on Jackery Explorer models has a wattage limit (e.g. 300W on the Explorer 300, 1000W on the Explorer 1000). Devices like electric kettles, hair dryers, or microwaves may exceed this limit and trigger overload protection.

  3. Reset overload protection.

If the AC output shut off suddenly, overload protection may have triggered. Turn the AC output off, disconnect the device, and turn AC output on again. Reconnect only after ensuring the device is within the wattage limit.

  4. Try a different cable for USB charging.

A charge-only USB cable will not trigger fast charging and may charge very slowly or not at all on USB-C PD ports. Use a quality USB-C cable rated for at least 60W for laptops.

  5. Check the Jackery's battery level.

If the battery is below 5%, the unit may refuse to power certain devices as a self-protection measure. Charge the Jackery to at least 20% before attempting to power devices.

When to Call a Professional

If no output port works at all and the battery shows charge, the output circuitry may have failed. Contact Jackery support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Jackery USB-C charges my phone but the AC outlet does nothing — why?

The AC outlet requires a separate button press to activate. Ensure the AC output is turned on (the AC button LED should be lit). Also check the connected device's wattage does not exceed the Jackery's AC output limit.

Jackery charges my phone but not my laptop — what is wrong?

Laptops require USB-C Power Delivery (PD) at sufficient wattage — usually 45–65W. Check that you are using the USB-C PD port (not a standard USB-A port) and a PD-capable cable. Some Jackery models have only one PD port.
